Dominique Adams is a Winnipeg-based alternative-folk artist, pushing the limits of conventional musical boundaries with her lush and thoughtful approach to songwriting. Dominique has spent the last several years working to refine her sound and songwriting through a deeper exploration of self, her environment, and heart-full collaboration with other artists in her community. This led her to record her debut full-length album in spring of 2024 with friends Liam Duncan (Boy Golden), Austin Parachoniak (Boy Golden, Del Barber), and Keiran Placatka (William Prince). Titled To Keep, the record is set to be released with Birthday Cake Records in mid-July 2025. There is a deeply ingrained, hard-won optimism in this Winnipeg-based musician’s tunes – bravely sharing the blunt pain of living with loss and loneliness, holding her shadows with tenderness. Effortlessly weaving tones of darkness and light throughout her inventive, intricate melodies and songwriting – imagine “Chelsea Morning”-era Joni Mitchell’s butterscotch sunlight flowing intuitively into the darkly glittering balladeer-ing of Gillian Welch.
